Residences
Wits offer student housing in the form of living and learning centers. They offer a wide variety of residence accommodations, ranging from single-gender, catering residences, to mixed-gender. You can view the different residences here.
The accommodations have access to libraries, sporting facilities, and your own space to relax and hang out with friends. Click here for more general information on Student Housing at Wits.
Campus Housing and Residence Life is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the University’s residence program. This includes accommodation and meals, and the provision of recreational facilities and programs for improved academic performance and the holistic development of students within a residential environment.

Description of Residences
One of the most fulfilling experiences a student may have is living in a resident hall. Apart from sporting and social events, residence life offers a variety of opportunities for interaction between faculty and students, the development of leadership skills in all areas, the fostering of cross-cultural understanding, and late-night discussions with peers and fellow students.
Meals are included in the residence package at catering residences. Meals are not supplied in self-catering housing, although the apartment does have cooking appliances such as stoves, microwaves, and refrigerators.
The residences are divided into catered and self-catering categories and vary in size and layout:

How to apply for accommodation in a WITS residence
If you wish to apply for residence, please take note of the following:
New Undergraduate students at the University
- NB: The closing date for all applications is 30 September each year. Late applications will not be accepted.
- Before you are admitted to a residence, you will be required to pay R10000 of your residence fees for the year.
- International students are required to pay 75% of their residence fees.
- NSFAS students must have a provisional or firm acceptance before being admitted into a residence.
- Bursary students must provide proof of their bursary upon registration.
