University of KwaZulu-Natal Online Application

The University of KwaZulu-Natal’s (UKZN) online application for admission to the 2024–2025 academic year will be accessible from 30 April 2023 to 30 September 2023. Both Grade 12 students and undergraduate transfer students from other institutions must apply through the Central Applications Office (CAO) Online Application 2024 portal if they wish to apply to study at UKZN 2024 for entry into degree or diploma study in the first semester (February) of an academic year.

Notice In all disciplines, there are only a certain number of open spots, which should be noted. Priority is given to the most qualified candidates, and the process is repeated until all positions have been filled. Candidates with scores below the minimum published will probably not be chosen. Since there are more candidates than spots available, not all of those who meet the basic standards will be given admission since UKZN is serious about academic achievement.

UKZN Application Dates for 2024-2025

College of Agriculture, Engineering & Science

  • Applications for all qualifications open on 30 April and close on 30 September 2023

College of Health Science

  • Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine opens on 30 April and closes on 30 June 2023 (no late applications)
  • Health Sciences (including Nursing open on 30 April and close on 30 September 2023 (no late applications)

College of Humanities

  • Applications for all qualifications open on 30 April and close on 30 September 2023

College of Law and Management Studies

  • Applications for all qualifications open on 30 April and close on 30 September 2023

UKZN Online Application Fee 2024-2025

  • A non-refundable online application fee of R210 is payable to UKZN (with a late fee of R420)
  • If students apply before 31 October 2023, the CAO application fee is R250.
  • If students apply from 1 November 2023 onwards, the CAO application fee is R470.

Needed Documents for UKZN Online Application 2024-2025

All prospective applicants should remember to upload the following documents (where applicable)

  • Certified copy of your ID/passport.
  • Certified copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate or O/A Levels or relevant school leaving qualification/certificate.
  • Proof from Universities South Africa (previously known as HESA), that you qualify for admission to degree studies at South African universities if you are an international applicant.
  • Certified copies of your degree certificate(s), academic record, and certificate of conduct, if you attended other universities.
  • Proof of English proficiency for International applicants from non-English speaking countries.
  • South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluations if the previous qualification(s) was/were obtained at foreign universities (outside South Africa).
  • A research proposal/proposed title of the dissertation/thesis if you are applying for a Masters’s Degree or Ph.D.
  • A valid study visa to study in SA if you are an International applicant.
  • USAF/SAQA documents are to be uploaded in order to complete your application.
  • Ensure to use reference APPN (followed by your student number) when making application fee payments.
