Senior Lecturer: Department of Mercantile Law

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Doctoral qualification in Law.
- At least five (5) years of teaching experience in higher education.
- A track record of DHET-accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of senior lecturer.
- Post-graduate supervision experience at least at the Master’s level.

- Registration with professional/scientific bodies.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Teaching and learning within the department.
- Understanding of and familiarity with higher education teaching, learning, research and innovation, and community engagement.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strict observance of ethical principles and academic integrity.
- Suitable ability to mentor junior staff or colleagues.
- Supervise post-graduate research.
- Fundraising for research.

Responsibilities include:
- Make and confirm travel accommodations, and reservations and inform clients of bus, plane, ship, and train connections.
- Coordinate the issuing of client’s itineraries, relevant documentation, tickets for travel, and vouchers for accommodation.
- Provide information of travel information of travel government regulations including customs regulations and use of credit cards and traveler’s cheques.
- Evaluate the services (hotels, airlines) and compare them with competitors.
- Ascertain the feasibility and costs of entering into a service agreement.
- Ensure that the best value for money is obtained for the institution.
- Liaise with departmental representatives to determine specific needs.
- Notify clients of travel dates, baggage limits, and medical and visa requirements.
- Explore sources of supply and research travelers’ requests for travel and accommodation.
- Determine the full contents of the service.
