University Of Cape Town Degrees

Are you considering higher education in South Africa? Then you’ve come to the right place: The University of Cape Town (UCT), one of the continent’s leading educational institutions. Known for its academic excellence and commitment to research and innovation, UCT offers a wide variety of degree programs across multiple disciplines. Whether you’re passionate about art, science, technology, or business, UCT has something to offer.

University Of Cape Town Degrees Offered

This faculty offers a single Bachelor of Science degree, the Bachelor of Science (BSc), which takes a minimum of three years to complete. A student chooses her two majors. (A list of majors can be found here.) Courses leading to these majors combine lectures, tutorials, internships, and fieldwork, depending on the major/subject in question. Students thus acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge of their chosen subject. Faculty regulations also allow students to combine science majors with majors from other faculties.

Student Advisers, professors with experience helping students select a curriculum that gives them the best possibility of realizing their potential in their chosen majors, are available for individual consultations through the Faculty.

Finding the right course

UCT is divided into faculties, and five of them offer courses to exchange and study abroad students. Academic divisions that concentrate on specific subjects or disciplines are housed in each faculty office. The academic department, year of study, and semester are displayed in the course code format. For the first, second, and third years of study, respectively, bachelor’s courses have 1000-level, 2000-level, and 3000-level codes. There are 5000-level codes for master’s courses. Courses offered in the First Semester (Feb-Jun) are designated by the suffix “F,” whereas those offered in the Second Semester (Jul-Nov) are designated by the suffix “S.”
