The Department of Business Science (now known as the School of Management Studies) was first founded in 1964 and offers the Bachelor of Business Science (BBusSc) degree. The four-year BBusSc was organized and developed mostly by the department.

This prosperous and growing department was renamed the School of Management Studies in 1994, three decades later, combining various academic specialties in a variety of departments. A variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees, diplomas, and courses are offered in each area. The varied sections have the flexibility and responsibility to conduct their own affairs, both administrative and academic while enjoying close and collegial alignment and integration under the aegis of the School. As can be seen from the chart below, one of the School’s main advantages is its diversity, which also distinguishes it from other institutions of higher learning in South Africa.

Every part and unit in the School contributes significantly to the academic activities of the Faculty as a whole, with a focus on the Business Science degree and the BCom in Management Studies at the undergraduate level. Staff members actively participate in related activities both on and off campus, with a high emphasis placed on both research and teaching and learning.
