The basic courses for the LLB are taught by the Department of Jurisprudence. The Department also teaches Private International Law, Legal Philosophy, and Professional Ethics to final-year students in addition to Introduction to Law, Historical Foundations of South African Law, Skills for Law Students, and Research Skills for Law Students. For social work students, the Department also offers a service module on Social Welfare Law.
Private law controls the legal relationship between private individuals or persons and is concerned with their legal interests. There are 32 lecturers and three administrative staff members in the Department, which delivers 25 modules or papers. The papers are part of the LLM degree, while the modules are part of the LLB degree. In the Department of Private Law, students can also pursue an LLD degree. Unisa Application LLB 2024 Requirements
