Higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, and degrees are all examples of undergraduate qualifications. The deadline for applying to Unisa has been extended. Now is the time to apply!

Postgraduate diplomas and honours degrees: The deadline for applying to Unisa has been extended. Now is the time to apply!

Master’s and doctorate degrees: The deadline for applying to Unisa has been extended. Now is the time to apply!

Unisa will accept applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, BTech & degrees) for the 2024 academic year from 20 August to 27 September 2023.
Honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas: 20 August – 27 September 2023
Master’s & doctoral qualifications: 10 September – 8 November 2023
Everyone wanting to start a new qualification must apply for admission.

  • Undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, PGCE, BTech & degrees): Closed
  • Honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas: Closed
  • Masters & Doctoral degrees: 10 September – 23 November 2023(some exceptions apply)

Unisa’s Short Learning Programmes

Unisa’s Short Learning Programmes (SLPs) focus on “just in time” and “just enough” learning to meet a specific learning need to be identified by individuals, organisations or society at large. SLPs are offered by centres located within the different academic departments of Colleges. Programme content and contact details are contained in each programme. You may also direct enquiries to ucl@unisa.ac.za. As part of a pilot project, only a select number of programmes will be able to apply online. Other programmes will be added in 2024

  • Undergraduate qualifications (higher certificates, diplomas & degrees, advanced certificates, advanced diplomas, BTech & postgraduate certificates):
    • New & returning students: 10 – 28 June 2023
    • Students awaiting results: 16 July – 16 August 2023
  • Honours degrees & postgraduate diplomas with semester modules:
    • New & returning students: 10 – 28 June 2023
    • Students awaiting results: 16 July – 16 August 2023
  • Master’s & doctoral degrees: Closed (with some exceptions)

Please note:

  • If you are a first-time Unisa applicant and do not have a myLife e-mail address, Unisa will communicate with you via the e-mail address and cellphone number you provided during the application period.
  • If you were previously registered with Unisa, Unisa will send the outcome of your application to your myLife e-mail account. Please check this e-mail account regularly for information. If you have forgotten your myUnisa / myLife password, please go to myUnisa (https://my.unisa.ac.za) to update your password.
  • Unisa provides all registered students with a free myLife e-mail address. It is your responsibility to activate your myLife e-mail account as soon as your registration is finalised. Your myLife e-mail account will be the only e-mail account recognised by Unisa for official correspondence to and from the university and will remain the official primary e-mail address on record at Unisa.
