The Sol Plaatje University, formerly known as the University of the Northern Cape, opened in Kimberley, South Africa, in 2014, with a small initial enrollment of 135 students.
The student complement is expected to gradually increase, with a target of 7 500 students by 2024.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
- The minimum academic requirements for admission to SPU’s study programs in 2022 have been established by the University.
- The requirements are determined by the results of the South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.
- Applicants with certificates from a different examination system will be considered for admission on an individual basis.
- It is important to note that even if you meet the minimum admission requirements listed here, you will not be automatically admitted to the study program at SPU.
- Your admission will be decided based on your academic performance and the availability of space in the program.
- The higher your academic performance above this minimum, the better your chances of admission to SPU in 2022.

- Apply to Study at Sol Plaatje University
- Applications to study at Sol Plaatje University are now open and will close on 30 November 2021.
- Prospective students can apply to study at the University by using our online application system. There is no application fee required to apply.
- To apply online, students must have a valid email address and use a computer with internet connectivity.
- Applicants are encouraged to download and read the Guidelines on how to apply online document before beginning the online application process.
