Sol Plaatje University, tentatively known as the University of the Northern Cape, opened in Kimberley, South Africa in 2014 and initially received a modest admission of one hundred and thirty-five college students. The number of college students is expected to grow steadily to 7,500 college students by 2024. It opened in Kimberley on September 19, 2013 [3] and officially became a public university under Section 20 of the Higher Education Act of 1997 with Government Notice 630 of August 22, 2013
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- The University has set the minimum academic requirements for admission to SPU’s study programs in 2024.
- The requirements are based on the results that applicants achieve in the South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.
- Applicants who hold certificates from a different examination system will be considered individually for admission.
- Note that if you satisfy the minimum admission requirements stated here, this does not automatically mean that you will be admitted to the study program at SPU.
- The final decision on your admission will be based on your academic performance and the availability of space in the program.
- The better your academic performance above this minimum, the better your chance of being admitted to study at SPU in 2024.
