How to Apply to Walter Sisulu University
WSU Application and Acceptance Process
Applications for admission must be made on the prescribed form. The application form must be completed in detail and signed by the prospective student and his/her parent or guardian. The form must then be sent to the Office of the Registrar, Walter Sisulu University, on or before 29 August for the MBChB Degree and 30 September for other qualifications to be enrolled in the following year.
Important Information Before You Apply
Thank you for visiting the WSU online application system. Only online applications are accepted by WSU. There is no cost associated with the service. Make sure you have the following information available to save time and money:
- Personal details
- Address of next of kin
- Address of the person responsible for the account
- Email addresses are compulsory
- All documents must be saved as soft copies for uploading.
Choosing your course of study before beginning the online application process is crucial. You should also be aware of whether you meet the minimal standards for admission for the options you are considering. The accomplishment levels for the particular subject listed as a requirement, as well as the certificate’s endorsement, must be satisfied.
Application Fee:
Applications open on the 1st of April.
R100.00 before and up to the 30th of September.
01 0ctober – 30 November is R200-00, thereafter R300-00.

8 – 16 January (returning students)
19 January – 6 February (first-time students)
Documents Required for Application
The University considers various post-matric certificates for admission purposes.
1: The following certificates are accepted:
- The “Old Senior” certificate
- The National Senior Certificate “NSC”
- National Certificate Vocational “NCV”
- N6 certificate
- Current grade 12 learners must upload Grade 11 final results and first quarter or mid-year results if available.
- Post-matric candidates must upload a matric or equivalent certificate, academic record, copy of ID, or passport.
2: Some departments may consider mature age exemption for admission for some programs. For more information, you may enquire from the Admissions Office at supportappl@wsu.ac.za.
Transfer Students
Students who are from another tertiary institution may apply and submit the following documents:
- Matric Certificate
- Post-Matric Certificate
- Identity Document
- Official Academic Report
- Conduct Certificate.
International Applicants
You must submit an application to Universities South Africa (Usaf) in order to have your school records or other degree or diploma certificates evaluated.
You can start the application procedure and upload the results and a copy of your passport as soon as you receive the results from USAF. For further information, please visit CCIP offices at (email) international@wsu.ac.za
