DUT Accommodation Residence
FIRST YEAR STUDENTS
- Students who are registering for the University for the first time must specify on the CAO application form that they need housing.
- The Student Admissions Department would submit a list of all accepted offers to Student Housing once the student had been accepted by the university.
- The student must reside at least 30 kilometers from campus and be accepted for a full-time programme (no part-time).

- The student should head to the assigned residence after printing a proof of residency registration.
First time students are allocated to residences situated on and close to campus to ensure that they adapt to the University environment
RETURNING STUDENTS
- Returning students must submit their housing applications in September or October of each year (after confirming the dates with Housing).
- The order in which students are assigned is based on first come, first served.
- Students enrolled in their second year will be considered as returning residents.
- The only students accepted for housing are those who live within 30 kilometers of the school.
- Full-time enrollment is required; no part-time, in-service training, or non-diploma courses are permitted.
- The student is pre-allocated to a spot once they have been approved for residence.
- The student must accept the registration online using iEnabler under “Residence Registration” once they have been academically registered and their finances have been cleared.
POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS
- Postgraduate students must apply for housing in the fall of each year for the following year (dates must be confirmed with Housing in September and October).
- Students coming from outside the University can submit an email to Housindbn@dut.ac.za as an application.
- To accept a residence registration, a student must be enrolled in classes and have the necessary funds.
- Depending on space, postgraduate students are sent to Student Village.
- Students who have sought housing and Housing has booked a spot for them are responsible for paying the fee.
