The Ultimate Guide to CPUT Residences and Accommodation:

Finding suitable accommodation is a top priority for students at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). The university offers a wide range of housing options to meet the diverse needs of its students. This comprehensive guide explores CPUT housing and accommodations, providing valuable information to help you make informed decisions and create a comfortable living environment during your school journey.

Residence accommodation

The Cape Peninsula University of Technology has more than 25 different residences. However, not all of these are at the Main Campus nor do they all offer the same facilities.

As an international student, it is important for you to take note of the following:
  • If you want to use the accommodations at Cape Peninsula University of Technology, you must note so on your application form.
  • The distribution of spots is dependent on availability.
  • As a first-year student, you’ll probably be assigned to a double room that you’ll share with another person.
  • You are responsible for the entire year or semester once you have agreed to accept a position (via your letter of confirmation of acceptance).
  • Since most homes are self-catering, they don’t offer any meals. However, there are several that cater to undergraduate students.
  • There are shared baths and toilets, coin-operated fully automatic washing machines, dryers, irons, public telephones, and TV rooms in the dormitory.
  • You must bring your own pillow, fitted sheet, comforter, and duvet cover, or sheet and blanket. In some cases, they may be able to provide bed linen for his first three days of residence for a small fee. During this period, guests must arrange their own linens.
  • Also note that you have to buy your own cutlery and crockery, kettle, microwave, etc. for food preparation.
  • It is possible to stay in the dormitory during the consecutive holidays in April and September, but if you wish to stay in the dormitory during the consecutive holidays in June/July and December/January, special arrangements must be made with the Immigration Bureau. is. Additional charges apply for such arrangements. CPUT Residences | Accommodation

CPUT Residences

CPUT offers residence space for over 13 400 students. Our residences are spread across the Cape Peninsula in the areas surrounding our campuses. There are 3 types of university-controlled accommodation options where students can be housed:

  • University-owned residences
  • University leased residences
  • University Accredited residences
Off-Campus Private Accommodation

Students who cannot secure on- and off-campus accommodation from the university often choose private accommodation near campus.

CPUT has an Off-Campus Housing Accreditation Program to help balance the demand for student housing when owned, rented, and university-administered accredited dormitories are full. This makes it safer and easier for students to contract with service providers, knowing that the university checks and verifies the quality of services at each facility.

The second option is non-accredited private accommodation where students arrange their own accommodation. If the student is funded, you must ensure that the Financial Aid/Scholarships Office knows where the student is staying.

In either case, the university is the grant recipient and it is the grant recipient’s responsibility to ensure that all information is recorded by the appropriate agency. Privately-financed students may also take advantage of non-university accommodation offers, if available. Find out more about off-campus housing
